Hit a segfault about 50MB into a 100MB mp3 tarball download.  Noticed the segfault was 
in
mod_include.  WTF?

I had put a "SetOutputFilter INCLUDES" directive in my document root directory block 
not
protected by a Files block.  This could be a common mistake I know better, was just
fooling around about a week ago and forgot to undo the change in my httpd.conf file.
