I just added the following lines to /etc/profile two days ago in order to get fortunes upon login on my box cd /usr/games ./fortune cd $HOME now when I log in as root I have about 120 messages from cron.hourly like the message below. I don't regularly log into the box (it's a file and quake server at home). What did I do wrong and what can I do to get these messages to stop being sent to root? >Return-Path: <root> >Date: Tue, 30 Mar 1999 00:01:00 -0600 >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: Cron <root@bilbo> run-parts /etc/cron.hourly >X-Cron-Env: <SHELL=/bin/bash> >X-Cron-Env: <PATH=/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin> >X-Cron-Env: <MAILTO=root> >X-Cron-Env: <HOME=/root> >X-Cron-Env: <LOGNAME=root> > >Brahma said: Well, after hearing ten thousand explanations, a fool is no >wiser.
