USR Sportster 56K PNP is how Windoze installs it. It is billed by 3 Com as
external PNP. Windoze reads info from modem ROM, and sets up accordingly.

I use kernel 2.2.5  This is a most puzzling problem, I've searched dejanews,
read man pages, and tried setting up the serial port with setserial. Hmm...I
wonder if any RH utilities need upgrading?
