Dear FORTRAN user,
I had a class last semester where we used FORTRAN 90 exclusively. I
don't know the differences between fortran 90 and fortran 77, but with a
programming language like fortran drastic changes arent a common thing.
Anyways, I'll give you the command we used and hopefully it will work for
you. OK, lets say your fortran file, the one with all the code in it, is
called fortranprog.f90 (in your case it would be fortranprog.f77 since your
using fortran 77). So we now want to compile it. Type in the statement "f90
-o fortranprog.out fortranprog.f90". Remember, most unix shells (like pico)
are case sensitive. Of course you will have to replace all 90's with 77's.
fortranprog.out is now your outfile. If you didnt name an outfile or the name
you typed didnt appear then the default name is "a.out". And of course, all
these commands are given in the pico editor, or any other editor. Well, I
hope that works for you. If you have any other questions like how to scipt a
file so you can generate printed output just email me.
