Also, a couple of things you should know are: Sndconfig doesn't detect the
card even after the file replacements. You must specify the card though it
never later asks for IRQ or I/O or DMA settings. Also when I set up
successfully under RedHat 6.0 (while I was waiting for my Venus disc to
arrive) sndconfig played two samples, the .au file of Linus' voice and a
midi file. When I set up my sound card on Venus (after replacing the 3
files with files off the RedHat 6.0 GPL disc) the midi was never played.
So I tested MIDI myself and it played the sample.midi file ok with the midi
player.
