[newbie] Sendmail

After a fresh install of Mandrake 6.0 via ftp..sendmail doesn,t
work...on the shut down of sendmail the
error message is "** Stopping /etc/rc.d/init.d/sendmail **
Shutting down sendmail: [FAILED]"

it has done this on every install of Mandrake 6.0 that I have done...yet
I don,t have this problem with RH 6.0
any Ideas ?
