If your "fstab" file (/etc/fstab) has a link to those, and it is set to
"user" access for both, you can just type "mount /mount/floppy" or "mount
/mount/cdrom" and it will mount them. You should NOT be in the "mount"
directory when you run those commands. If you get back an error stating (in
whole or in part) that you are not root, you'll have to a) modify your FSTAB
to allow USERS access to the floppy or b)su to root and then mount then
"exit" the SU and access the floppy or CDROM as you want.
Linux does NOT auto-mount by default the way Win9x does. Also, when you have
a floppy in the floppy drive and you want to switch floppies, you HAVE to
unmount it first, or it will keep reading the same data on the "phantom"
floppy, or cause all sorts of happiness!
