SMP is indeed for dual processor support, but from what i recall, the SBLive
module specifcally requires that you DON'T have smp support in your kernel.

You shouldn't need to recompile your kernel at all to get it working. I just
sent a reply to someones earlier post with a pointer to full instructions.
