It should be possible to bypass the fon server by finding your "fonts"
(probably /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts) and put that path in the place of
"unix/:-1". This has worked for me on Red Hat 6.0 but caused some (very minor)
font display bugs. You may want to try it. If you do shut off the X font
server or "xfs" service (you won't be needing it if the path works).
