Finally, make sure you have a good copy of printtool from the Mandrake Update site, and the latest Samba. Many things, including the print script for samba and the filter routines, are broken in previous versions (including RedHat 6.0, where it began).

I am trying to print from Linux to an HP DeskJet 722C that is attached to a
win98 machine named KB0498 and IP address of 192.168.1.3.
In the Linux Print Tool, I am unsure which printer to choose. There seems to be
drivers for 5xxx,6xxx, and 8xxx, but not 7xxx. I have tried most of them with
no success. That is, the ASCII Test from PrintTool shows up in the Printer
Queue, but never prints. Well, when I first ran the setup and did an ASCII
print, I managed to get a page to the printer that consisted of a single line of
text, but after that, nothing would make it out of the spooler. I see the
lights on the hub blinking, and I can ping 192.168.1.3 so I know they are
communicating. Now I DO have the same printer shared on my NT Server
box(KB01NT, 192.168.1.1) I know, NT should at as the print server, but I've
gotta be different. I have tried configuring the printer to go through the NT
box to no avail, figuring that since the printer is shared, it could somehow be
found. I guess what I'm trying to ask is .... Does anybody know if a driver is
available for the HP 722C in case that is the problem, AND/OR can anyone tell
from the rambling information above if I am going about this in the right way? Thanks,
