Jeanette, can I just say a few things to put this in perspective. How
many times have you installed Windows? Or had to reinstall due to crash of
OS or hard drive? I've had to do it about six times on one machine and I
don't even count anymore on other PCs. The first couple of times were a
real pain but later I understood better what I was doing. What made it
bad was I had the original OEM version on floppy (actually 13 of them).
After the hour long install then I had longer than that to download all the
updates from MS. At least twelve files and definitely twelve reboots
later I had all the updates. But, not all the bugs have been fixed.

I have only installed Mandrake 5.3 three times on that old P-60 and that's
not due to a crash, but due to my wanting to play with partition sizes.
It just worked. It's up to ME though to LEARN how to use it. I once
stared at the Windows 95 screen also wondering what I could do w/ it. But
shortly I started mucking around and tweaking settings and stuff. Key
thing to remember w/ Linux: don't do this as root or you are asking for
trouble.
