It could be hanging on netgear FA311 or FA312 ethernet cards (and the solution seems to be to get a real ethernet card; the drivers supplied by Netgear are just plain buggy), or it could be hanging on unmounting USB devices which follows that. The solution in the latter case is to look at /etc/modules.conf and to change the line alias usb-interface usb-uhci to alias usb-interface uhci If you have one of the boards that takes the uhci driver. But without information on your mainboard that could be very bad advice, because your mainboard may be set up for usb-ohci, for example. In other words, the advice you get will never be better than the information you provide. Civileme
