When the mail arrives at the list server, it resolves to see that the transmission address is real. If the ISP does not have its nameservices fully set up the response is nonsense and the mail is rejected. This was done to keep spammers off the list.
My own computer sends my mail to the list, and I have the nameservices set up for it. It is not a big task. If your ISP can do no better, then find another ISP. Civileme
