How can I make a new boot record and put system files on it? > it's quite simple, it will only take a couple of minutes. boot off your Mandrake CDrom ( the first one ). when you see the Linux Mandrake prompting you to press 'enter' to begin the installation or 'F1' for options, press F1. then type 'rescue'. the machine will boot up from the CD and show you a list of options. among them you will find one that reads "restore boot loader". select that one. then reboot your machine. everything should be fixed.
