What you want to do is actually really really easy..

the main setting you need to get right is right up the top of the smb
conf file.. the network domain or workgroup name.

match it to your win box..

then scroll down to the bottom of your conf file and there will be some
examples of shares in there... uncomment and change them to match what
you want..

restart samba then,, (service smb restart) from a console and try
again..

failing that, try using webmin and/or swat.. but I prefer to do at least
the basics by hand, swat has a ton of options that can confuse the
issue.. so having the basics to start with before you start adding
stuff is a wise way to go..

Also, there is a good Mandrake page on getting samba setup and working,
you might want to try that..

One last and possible the easyest way, is to fireup rpmdrake and install
the samba wizard (just do a search for wizard, and tick the samba one)

it will appear in your MDK contol panel, and it will write the conf
file for you based on your answers..

good luck, its really not as hard as it looks, I have a home network
here with many machines.. 2 MDK8.2 box's, 2 win98SE boxes, 1 win2000 box
and one winXP box (that also dual boots to mdk8.2), and they all use
samba to share files, and they all work perfectly.
