I have had the exact same problem several times lately trying to install the
cooker beta from June or upgrading (urpmi) an 8.2 install to cooker. I was
able to install 8.0 and 8.2 with no problem.

I suspected it was a problem with my new motherboard, a MSI KT3 Ultra with
raid and the newer kernels not getting along. I have since left well enough
alone but would like to go to the 9.0 beta. I just don't know how to fix that
problem. I did try rerunning LILO at one point but I forget where.

I wanted to report it to cooker but had not saved the messages.
