my harddisk is 4.3GB and it has the root partition "/" for 3 GB and the swap for 100MB. The rest is with another partition "/home". So when it formats all the partitions, it does fine with "/home" and "/swap" but stops at "/" meaning you can see "Formatting partition hda1" and nothing changes. I've tried leaving it that way for 2 hours, nothing happened. I could access the Alt-F1, Alt-F2, Alt-F3 and Alt-F4. So to restart the comp, i CTL-ALT-DEL. BTW, i'm using text install since i think my graphics card doesn't support the graphical installation. Also, i didn't use any partitioning software, just the M8.2 CD.how big is the partition? what partitions do you have? are we talking about a 4 gig or a 200 meg partition? "/" or "/root" what do you mean by "hangs" and how did you determine that it was a "hang" and not running the format and checking for disk errors (it might take a few minutes to format and error check a 6 gig partition) and did you create the partition with what software and what settings?
I'm with 128MB RAM and 200MHZ processor.
