Get a router that utlilizes PPOE and dials the internet and gets your connection for you and from there use a NAT Address system.. Should be good to go

Subject: [newbie] alcatel

First of all..... Hi folks.

A complete linux newbie here

Having installed Mandrake v8.0 - which I bought last year - on a celeron 700 with 128meg of ram and 40 gig hard drive ... I am desperately trying to get the alcatel speedtouch modem working so I can connect to the internet.

I have downloaded various bits of software and I am stuck when it comes to installing alcatel speed management proggy.

I have no idea how to do it.

The how to's don't help me much because I'm thick.

Can some one point me in the direction of an idiot proof way to install my alcatel modem ?

Is it worth downloading and upgrading to mandrake 8.x ?

Please help
