I have tried installing postfix , procmail and spamassassin, on mu M8.2 OS and so far have hit a wall of dependency problems. So for the moment I'm fiddling with mozilla's filters.
one particular problem, I'm having is many of these quite legitimate blue movie websites which do provide a cancel facility and do operate it, but rather cunningly they merely move your email address to another of their own email addresses, so the darn thing evades cancellation.I think this may be an area for ledgislation, only all my basic instincts tell me that once you ask government to start enacting ledgislation to prohibit things they also use it to pass laws that afterwards benifit to silence oposition rather than protect the inocent. In other words I don't trust governments. So if there are quite legitimate software options to combat this kind of antisocial behavious I'm for that avenue of approach. Maybe some of you have some ideas. This morning I had [EMAIL PROTECTED], I,ve enacted the cancellation proceedure, ok fair enough, but I just know it will be back on another email address tomorrow. So far none of this antisocial mail has been totally beyond the ken. and I'm no prig. I like a shapely lady like the next, and I'm very reluctant to let this kind of thing be the excuse to start censorship as a regular part of electronic daily life, so it seems to me that probably the only answer is a personal one, to keep a vigil, and to try to find some way to at least compartmentalise it.I guess we are just going to have to live with it.
