To be quite honest you WILL NOT be able to do a proper update of evolution from cooker tree to an 8.2 box.
The reason I say this is that the 8.2 box was compiled w/ gcc 2.96.x and thus through the last major set of releases you could update only a few things to get some cooker functionality, however w/ cooker being compiled w/ gcc 3.2 now I'm afraid that once you start updating rpms you'll find that most system rpm's will have to be updated. Just to make your life easier, use urpmi and add a cooker source. Try updating evolution and look at how many packages you'll have to fix.
