 They are both great browsers. Galeon is generally considered to be faster 
than Mozilla, but IMO Opera is faster even than Galeon, and  has a smaller 
memory footprint and will work better in low end machines.
(This is just my opinion remember)

However..  They both have their limitations. Galeon is possibly better at 
rendering pages with 'Internet Explorer' javascript on them. But on the other 
hand recent builds of Galeon (I am using 1.2.5) have been a little unstable 
and seem to crash a lot.

It really comes down to which browser suits you best since their speed is 
similar.
At the moment I think Opera's feature set is still better (just) . I like the

 'mouse gestures' (galeon has them too but they do not work as well),
'tabbed windows'(Galeon has tabbed windows too, but they have to be all the 
same size)

BTW: You mention galeon 1.03  That is a bit out of date, and I do not think it 
has either of these features.
