'uh oh' was my immediate thought here, and it's confirmed: http://www.linuxprinting.org/vendors.html#brother Unfortunately, printers being designed on the assumption that they will always be connected to a Windows machine, thus using proprietary functionality therein which is not made public, is a notorious, insoluble problem. My Lexmark Z42 at least prints in black and white, but colour is not possible ... When the black and white cartridge on mine runs out, I intend to buy a new printer.
