HI Ronald,
I too have MTV (an unregistered copy). I defined one variable in my
.bash_profile - MTV_VCD_DEVICE = /mnt/cdrom
But every time I start this mtv I get this message saying MTV_VCD_DEVICE
should be set to /mnt/cdrom

Can you please give me relavant portions of your .bash_profile file which
you may have used to configure MpegTV?

I don't think Mplayer ships with Mandrake Linux 8.2 - vitamin. Guess I may
have to download it separately.
Thanks in advance...

I've got mtv here, an older, commercial VCD viewer. You have to register it
for $10 I think.

My best recommendation though would be MPlayer. It can be a little difficult
to get setup but once you do, it will play just about any format you throw
at
it.

I've never tried Xine.
