I have an IBM P50 monitor and I'm running Linux-Mandrake 8.0. I used to have
it on High Frequency SVGA Monitor 60Hz@800x600. However, recently I noticed a
high pitched noise when I was in X sessions (when I Ctrl+Alt+F1 out into
console it disappears). So now I set my monitor to lower spec but its
flickering heaps and is only 8-bit color (but 1024x768).
I have tried the "IBM P50" option but it doesn't work, it might be a
different revision.
Two things:
1) Does anyone have an IBM P50 monitor? I think maybe the incorrect
settings
were wrecking the monitor,
2) Is this a hardware issue? I guess I need a larger monitor anyway :-/
