Langsley, you actually do not need to transfer anything. You can make this D-drive of yours accessible to linux in read-write-mode by editing (as root) your "/etc/fstab". In that file, there's a stanza for your hda5. Edit it to contain the option "umask=0" like this : ....iso8859-15,codepage=850,rw,nosuid,umask=0,nodev 0 0...
