Dear All,No , I don't think that is right , Marcia, least it was not right for me.
I have read from the Linux-Mandrake site that it is a good idea to put
into lilo this line linux nopnpbios if you have the via chipset and
Mandrake 9. Is this true and exactly how and where does one do this?
Thanks.
Marcia
I needed that addition to the append line because of not wanting
the boot to hang on Plug and play detection, hense nobiospnp,
it was something to do with not wanting the os to look at bios settings
in regard to pnp detection.Anyway it had nothing to do with
the via soundchip situation. Though you too may need that same
line for the same reasons as I did. For the record:-
append="devfs=mount hdd=ide-scsi hdc=ide-scsi nobiospnp"

I have to have bios pnp enabled for win98 boots, and have wondered if that is the cause of some of my problems. If I try this append, do I simply add it for the cd-rw and for the cd-dvd (the one that isn't scsi configured for some reason)? I presume that for the second one it would be ...hdx=ide nobiospnp?
Anne
additions, it has to go somewhere in the append line, needn't be at
the end but within the " quote " marks. I guess the append line
is basically there for the purpose of adding corrections to the boot
process, so other things can go there to, like memory limitations
and such like.
