Wei, glib is not the same thing as glibc. Hence, I think, your confusion. What you probably need is libglib and libglib-devel. Also when installing libraries with devel components, place both the main and the devel- component on the command line at the same time. Many packages depend on a specific version of glibc. Upgrading one means you'll need to upgrade others, such as iniscripts, locales, and so forth.
