Good point Brian - and yes, you've hit the nail on the head. Whilst I sit on the phone trying to assess clients "needs" (as it were), I do tend to let the mind wander a bit, and the fingers "do the walking"...and hey, a system ain't CUSTOMIZED until it's PERSONALIZED - ya reckon? What better impact than to have someone watching your *nix box boot up with strange and unusual graphics, logos, messages, warnings, audio clips here and there...(Didn't Chester Cheese say "It ain't easy being cheesy?) (grin) And to be more truthful about it, when I started mucking around with XENIX and SCO a few years back (er, like in the 80's), what better way to get to know a system than to rewrite basic system messages and scripts for particular customers?
