tools/options/language settings/writing aides/available language modules /highlight oo myspell spellchecker and hit the edit button on the right, when in there tick what you want to be active.

I have myspell and several languages loaded, but no amount of tinkering with the options will get the spellcheck to work - it just flashes through the document and gives me a dialog box saying that all is OK. Oh well, one more reason to boot back into windows :-(
