Yes - I needed it for win98, which would not run when I disabled it. However, now that is unavailable (I don't know whether it is trashed, or whether I've just lost access to it) I could try disabling that. (BTW - I'm using win4lin for the essential apps, and mostly enjoying it. The only problem is that I wanted to buy the full product through Mandrake, and can't find how to. The trial runs out soon, so I may have to buy direct from NeTraverse) > Take a look at your IRQs and see if there are ones with more than one > device using the irq. The only shared ones are 5 usb-uhci, usb-uhci, eth0 10 ide2, ide3, ohci1394 Of course, I've no idea what sda was needing. I'll try disabling pnp in bios tomorrow - I daren't start something tonight :) as I'm not altogether with it. All ideas gratefully received, as always Anne
