OK, well you are obviously getting a connection.  Check that shorewall
hasn't got into the act by doing the following:

run MCC (Mandrake Control Center
select Security
select Firewall

If you get a message saying that the shorewall package needs to be
installed, then that's not the problem (don't install it).  Otherwise,
check that the access allowed is ALL (no firewall).
