I had the same problem when I did an initial SO install on SuSE 8.0. When you install as root and do the initial start up of SO6.0, as a user, you get to choose whether you are running as a stand alone workstation or as a server based client. If you choose the standalone workstation, as I did, you get the same problem saving files. I had to run the SO setup and select the uninstall. Then when I started SO again and reran the initial setup, I selected the client mode. Everything was fine after that. Barry
