Hey Robin,

This is the same problem that Dfox ran into.  I never saw the problem from the
beginning because the aureal drivers put my card in duplex mode.  I wasn't aware of
the situation until I read Dfox's email describing his difficulties.

This is the reason I stopped using the drivers shipped with the kernel, even though
they worked for me, and started looking for a universal solution.  OSS was what I
found; a sound solution "for the masses."

No matter what the capabilities of your soundcard, the OSS drivers can virtualize
the dsp devices and give you loopback recording.  As I was saying b4, they provide
a uniform interface across all soundcards, be they cheap or expensive.  They cost a
little money, but IMO it's well worth it.  I bought a license and I certainly have
never regretted it.

The main OSS developer, Dev Mazumdar, is a fantastic guy and he's been a good
friend to me.  He's busy, but he always seems to have time to help.
