During the Mandrake installation Any and Every pkg you select will be
installed irregardless of any conflict which might exist.
So, yes, iptables and ipchains Do conflict as do TiMidity++ and kdevelop
as well as several others.
As to your other query any computer that connects to the Internet or a
multiple user network Should use some type of firewall.
