Depends on what you mean by preferable. I use KDE. I prefer KDE. Judging by user numbers (based on many polls), KDE is used more and is therefore considered preferable by many. However, I have yet to find apps from either WM that won't run on the other, so I suppose it's all about personal choice at the end of the day.
