Almost every WinModem (Lucent/Rockwell) works more than well under any distro of LINUX - but you do have to get the right driver for the right chipset. Check out: http://www.linmodems.org You'll find heaps of information - but I also remember that there were some drivers (in RPM format) that were put up on http://freshmeat.net that covered a good hunk of Lucent/Rockwell chipsets...
