Well I've got a working version on but I cannot say I'm all that happy.
For one thing I have had to go back to an old mplayer tar ball
MPlayer-20020919.tar.gz.
Firstly , I would like to point out that it easy to specify the wrong gcc
compiler, as kpackage manager says that we have gcc-3.2-1
whereas if you take a look at the directory you find it's actually
/usr/bin/gcc-3.2, so be warned.
Ok so this version MPlayer-20020919 compiles and installs with
cd directory sources
./configure --enable-gui --cc=/usr/bin/gcc-3.2 2>/root/Desktop/el1
make 2> /root/Desktop/el2
make install 2>/root/Desktop/el3
However it barffs in gmplayer at lines 30 and 31 in
<home>/.mplayer/gui.conf and so I chose to # out
#cache = 4
#load_fullscreen = 0
which gets round the problem , though I'm not sure it should
then when gmplayer comes up go to rightmouseclick on skin - properies -
and change the video driver to vx .
It then plays ok, not brilliantly, I don't get the feeling the video
stream is
as fast as it might be but it's playing. Occassionally I get the error
message
about the
************************************************
**** Your system is too SLOW to play this! ****
************************************************
!!! Possible reasons, problems, workarounds:
- Most common: broken/buggy _audio_ driver. Workaround: Try -ao sdl or use
ALSA 0.5 or OSS emulation of ALSA 0.9. Read DOCS/sound.html for more
tips!
- Slow video output. Try a different -vo driver (for list: -vo help) or try
with -framedrop! Read DOCS/video.html for video tuning/speedup tips.
- Slow CPU. Don't try to play a big DVD/divx on a slow CPU! Try
-hardframedrop.
- Broken file. Try various combinations of these: -nobps -ni -mc 0
-forceidx
- Are you using -cache to play a non-interleaved file? Try with -nocache.
If none of these apply, read DOCS/bugreports.html!
Upon further consideration all is not correct. the music sound
is there but not the vocal sound , obviously seperate audio streams.
I guess this is looking like an audio driver problem.
I currently have the standard M9.0 lame driver, I think,
lame20020921cvs-1mdk,
not sure about that maybe I installed it.cannot remember.
I tried the same proceedures with
MPlayer-20020919
MPlayer-0.90pre9
but they do not get past the make stage with error1 messages.
Later,
I discovered that when I changed the disc to another the audio
streem was all there, so I must of had a fault on the original
disc which indeed was a relatively new and untried disc.
So it seems to be working
