Ah!, yes i see your point, i must have been half asleep, well who
would'nt be after 6 weeks bed rest with back troubles.

I sent my mail on the basis of the x being the cause of the sysop not
setting a passwd. What i realy missed was your explanation of other
passwd authentication.

On another note, sometimes a file will apier in /etc called i think
passwd.lck which interfers in one way or another when trying to
change passwds.
As to the exacht name i seem to have forgotten.

I'm sorry to have missed your point, of course you were correct.
