Here is my situation. I need to start xWindows (and KDE) in 32 bit mode to make
Netscape and WordPerfect look right. [Yeah, I know, I can use 16 bit mode as
well, but I do some tinkering with web graphics and need the deeper colors.
Plus my video card and monitor handle it well.]

In order to currently start in 32 bit mode, I'm typing "startx -- -bpp 32" at
the command line. If I just type "startx", xWindows starts in 16 bit mode.
But I want to start Linux in graphical mode so I don't have to use the command
line. How do I do it?

Also, while I'm here, how do I give users other than root the ability to halt
or shutdown the system?

Thanks.
Jeremy
