OK, a little utility rpm for 9.1 showed up recently, hddtemp (hddtemp-0.3-0.beta3.1mdk). I've been playin with it for a few days.
see : http://coredump.free.fr/linux/harddrive.html#hddtemp tom# hddtemp /dev/hd[ab] /dev/hda: Maxtor 6Y080L0: 55C /dev/hdb: MAXTOR 6L040J2: 31C (case temp is 23C, drives are well separated and ventilated) That's just now, but in several checks over time, hdb (a storage drive, 40g) ranges from low to high 30's. hda (my busy drive, 80g) runs mid 50's to low 60's. I've tried Googling and even emailed Maxtor (no reply yet), but now curiousity's got the better of me. What are normal temp ranges?, what's too high? -- Tom Brinkman Corpus Christi, Texas
