A reasonable install of Mandrake without any capability of programming can be
done for the expenditure of 1 Gb approximately plus 200Mb swap. You keep
KDE and uncheck GNOME and then in individual package selection check zip,
check gaim, check openoffice help, and uncheck koffice. I have an install
completion CD which changes the simplified menu to look at OpenOffice and
loads Yahoo messenger, since everybuddy is defunct in 9.0. Install no games,
or figure on spending another 300Mb on games.
