Hi All,

Could anyone give me some help with this?

(1) From time to time it has happened that the panel on the login screen
changes to a much smaller size with minute fonts that are nearly
impossible to read. It then stays like that, even after shutting down
and waiting a while, to allow CMOS memory to die before re-booting. Some
other windows on the desktop and browser also get affected.

(2) From time to time it has happened that the Galeon window goes into
the background, leaving fragments of other windows on top of it, so that
it becomes completely unusable. It then stays like that.... ditto.....
I've updated Galeon - no joy; uninstalled it and re-installed it - works
OK for a while and then the problem recurs.

I haven't been able to pin-point what causes these to happen.(1) and (2)
seem to be associated; but I don't know if always or not.

Shutting down and re-booting into Win$, then shutting down and
re-booting Linux sometimes cures both (1) and (2).But not always.

Now that I've got Mandrake Backup (incremental) working on CD-RW, I've
found that restoring the system from a recent correctly working version
seems to bring things back to normal. Fingers crossed!

What is going on? And where are the changes made that allows "Restore"
to put things right?

MD 9.0, Monitor is Iiyama Vision Master Pro 400.

Hope to hear from you.

Cheers,
Doug
