There is no such thing as secure.
The router has a chip in it that's frequency can be deciphered at 1km
distance; unless you encase it in lead, you're always going to be open.
Firewalls are nice, but the best firewall is disconnecting from the
internet or any other network for that matter. Having one firewall is
good, having 10 more behind it is better - different IP routing schemes
on each one to make it all the more confusing. Translate codepages on
the fly in seven different languages before it gets to your browser.
Encrypt your MP3's with a 4387 bit algorithm, zip them, tar them, gzip
them, arc them, tar them again, and rename them back to MP3. Tin foils
hats are alright, but you have to coat your entire upper body to protect
completely. Five layers of tin foil works best. If you're able to
contact a surgeon and actually have him implant a skull plate, that's
even better.

SERIOUSLY, though, ya oughta make yourself REALLY REALLY REALLY
familiar with your router and it's setup. Become friends with it and
learn all the in's and out's of configuring it - even with compression
values as well as ports and such. Best case is to have your
router->firewall->network - don't really have to get OVERLY fancy, I'm
sure the Lone Gunman don't snipe pink-haired Canuks...at least last I
talked to him...

If you think things can't get worse it's probably only because you
lack sufficient imagination.
