Hello Kaj;

I can't remember if urpmi was written to update kernels or install them, even
though the /etc/urpmi/skip.list has the kernel written into it. Among other
things.

I do know that I always play safe; download the kernel and the kernel source
rpms then in a super user terminal I do without the "":
"rpm -ivh <kernel-version>.rpm" instead of the upgrade "Uvh", then;
"rpm -ivh <kernel-source-version>.rpm" and;
"/sbin/lilo -v" to add the new kernel.

If something goes kerflooey (a technical term I'm intimately familiar with
<g>) you'll still have a working kernel to work with.

Just seems safer that way. But then I hate reinstalls when I screw up. That
happens often too. <g>

Regards;
