I have never seen them in action, but the results were sometimes impressive. At one occasion, a year ago, an assistant was about to hand me over my upgraded PC, when due to some minor discussion point he opened the case to find out if component X was present inside. Well, component X was there indeed, but we also saw the not one of the cables that are supposed to connect the HD's to the IDE's on the main board were actually connected to the HD's. And a few months ago I got the PC back from te shop after some reparation and found that a HD was not seen by the BIOS. I opened the case and discovered that a cable was going from IDE1 to the particular HD... and from there back to IDE4! I guess he wanted to be VERY sure that the HD was connected.
