I second that idea. Jump out to a console and see how the mounting goes. Maybe try using diskdrake, and rewrite fstab? I screwed up fstab something awful this morning, I had to have diskdrake fix it for me. But yeah, you should be able to tell if it is KDE, or somthing else before you jump to nuking it all.
