Hello!
        You might like to try kate (KDE advanced text editor), you've probably used 
it in it's lightweight incarnation kwrite. The feature I think you want 
[syntax highlighting] is:
        Document->Highlight Mode->Script->Perl (hence proving it is not a programming 
language :-)).

        It's also useful for people making other programs, BASIC, C, even Half-Life 
and Wolfenstein! Trolltech's QT Designer also has syntax highlighting, btw.

        If it's just a color scheme you want, kate also does that.
