My Toshiba laptop comes with a Intel Corp. 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Modem (rev
05) that I am trying to setup for the first time.
After googling around I found that the PCTel driver (version 0.9.5 and
up) supports this modem. I downloaded version 0.9.6 and tried to build
the module using "./configure --with-hal=i8xx" as directed by the
INSTALL file. However, ./configure complains with:
configure: error: modversions.h is missing - you should configure your
kernel first!
They recommend to install kernel sources to solve this problem but I
already have installed them. The other ugly solution (as they called it)
is to "touch /usr/src/linux/include/modversions.h". This one didn't
work.
Has somebody had this sort of problem?
Any information on how to solve this problem will be truly welcome.
