Restart in Windows "safemode". then do your scandisk and defrag. make sure your screenblanker is set to none and power management options are all set to never as well. Depending on your motherboard safemode will be available from [F1], [F8] or perhaps another keypress during boot up at the same time as Bios Setup is an option. It works for me. -- Michael
