thought I had an elegant solution. Turns out that if I click on this file in Konq, it opens up in Korganizer. This has an archive/delete function, which seems to work. I tell it to delete all calendar entries older than a given date, it gives me a list of all the entries that will be deleted and I say "do it" and save the file afterwards. My calendar file shrinks from 1MB to 32K and all looks good. If I open the calendar again in Korganizer, the old entries are gone. Now I run evolution again. Bang, the file immediately reverts to 1MB and the old entries are back. That's clever! Just in case this is some sort of "I don't really delete, just move the pointer" type problem, I tried copying the small file somewhere else, deleting the original, then copying it back. Same result. Run evolution and all the old entries are back. Magic!?!? Brian
